A master spy and notorious jewel thief, Rouge was first introduced as a double agent for G.U.N., who infiltrated Shadow and Eggman's team during the second Space Colony Ark incident, after trying and failing to steal the Master Emerald from Knuckles. After Shadow fell to Earth and was presumed dead, Rouge began to dig through Eggman's abandoned bases looking for hidden treasure, eventually discovering Shadow and Omega sealed inside one such base. Uniting the three under the banner of Team Dark, Rouge became its de facto leader, and the trio continued to maintain a close relationship throughout the following years, working on and off for G.U.N. or pursuing their own interests.
