Plot Synopsis
After being put on probation for a murder her ex-boyfriend committed, young Harleen Quinzel is living far from her home in Gotham, and her family is falling on hard financial times. With her father refusing to let her help him with his criminal activities, Harleen and her girlfriend Pamela Isley turn to medical experimentation to make some quick money, but the medicine has an unexpected side effect - Harleen begins to lose time, as the confident and rowdy Harley Quinn takes her body for a joyride.
How is it plural?
Upon receiving an injection of experimental medicine from Hawthorne Biotech, Harleen begins to occasionally be replaced by Harley, who is more confident and outgoing, and who has a habit of getting the pair into questionably legal scrapes. While Harley is able to access Harleen's memories from the get-go, Harleen is completely unaware of Harley's existence for several chapters, and only begins to work it out when she notices she's losing time, along with the help of their girlfriend, Pamela Isley. It's also implied that Harley may have been around before the medicine brought her to the forefront, though this is not explicitly stated.
