Plot Synopsis

Mild-mannered museum custodian Steven Grant is down on his luck, constantly tired, and finds himself "sleepwalking" regularly... or so he thinks, until he wakes up one morning in an entirely different country, on the run from paramilitary forces. This sends him tumbling down the rabbit hole, as he is swept up into the life of a superhero by the other alter in his system, the mercenary Marc Spector, who fights against a worldwide cult as the superhero Moon Knight, the avatar of the Egyptian god Khonshu.

How is it plural?

— Major spoiler warning! —

The titular superhero Moon Knight is a DID system consisting of Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley (seen only briefly in the final episode), as well as being possessed by the Egyptian god of the moon, Khonshu. Steven serves as the system's host, and is initially unaware of the other alters, or that while he is sleeping Marc takes over to act as Moon Knight. It is later revealed that their systemhood was caused by severe childhood trauma, with Steven forming to protect Marc from their mother's abuse.

Their plurality is also present in the Marvel comics the series adapts, though we are unfamiliar with the extent to which it is explored or represented.
